Start-Up
With the understanding that I should need to refine/adjust the writing for the shakuhachi in consultation with the chap who actually plays it, I have today gotten a good start on the piece for sh., bell choir & tenor drum (there's a young man among my ringers who is a percussionist, so I thought it would be fun to have him double on ringing the largest of the bells, and the occasional tenor drum stroke). If I can get the bells (and thus the overall shape of the piece) wrapped up in time for rehearsal after church on Sunday, I shall be well pleased. The title of the piece is: When the morning stars sang together, and the sons of God shouted for joy (a verse from, I believe, the book of Job).
